‘Joy’ by David Whyte
8 page MS book, black stick ink and gouache illustrations on Zerkall paper, black Fabriano endpapers, boards covered in orange Khadi paper. Completed June 2018
This essay is taken from the book Consolations by my good friend, David Whyte. I wrote it out at his suggestion in a couple of afternoons and was very delighted when it was sold via David’s website. The challenge was to present this text in a format that could be readily absorbed without the need to turn too many pages – hence the rather long, deep format. Working with my friend’s text also absolved me from the need to obtain permission from the copyright holder!
