Nadezhda Mandelstam’s Last Letter to Osip Mandelstam

24-page manuscript book written out in Chinese ink with gouache illustrations on Indian Hemp Cream 115 gsm paper with 90 gsm Ruscombe Mill Ocean Green endpapers and bound in 300 gsm Somerset Toned White card, plain Khadi jacket. Made in March 2022

I have made several treatments of this letter by Nadezhda Mandelstam, translated by Max Hayward and which is to be found in The Voronezh Notebooks, the poems of Osip Mandelstam 1935-1937, translated by Richard & Elizabeth McKane (Bloodaxe Books, 1996). The letter never fails to move me, especially when one realizes that Osip probably had died by the time it was written, and certainly never received it.
